LEO A DALY’s Minneapolis office seeks a design-forward architect to join its studio, engage collaboratively within the office, and lead design efforts on a variety of project types. This position will engage in the strategic planning and setting overall long-term guidelines to ensure success of the firm’s architectural practice. The will develop and maintain a positive internal design culture within the office. The ideal candidate will represent design goals and philosophy in the public realm and take architectural lead in new business development.


  • Establish strategic design goals, design requirements, design policy and process for staff.
  • Participate in developing the unique story that will drive each project’s design.
  • Pursue expression of the project’s concept in physical and digital study.
  • Communicate design concepts persuasively – both verbally and graphically.
  • Lead the preparation of presentation materials for all project phases.
  • Mentor and professionally develop junior architects & engineers and provide recommendations on design and layout methodologies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues throughout the company in the Design Forum to explore design challenges, solutions, and trends.
  • Present projects at in-office crits, and participate in reviews of others’ projects.
  • Collaborate with all disciplines, lead project documentation, and coordinate specification content.
  • Work within budget and time constraints.
  • Perform research toward technical innovation, share research with others, and achieve sound detailing.
  • Seek the highest level of quality in your work, and help foster it in others’ work.


  • 10+ years of progressive experience working with a variety of typologies.
  • Proficiency of 3D visualization in Sketchup and Revit. Rhino and Grasshopper are advantageous but not prerequisite.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office apps.
  • Persistence, desire, dedication to your work.
  • The ability to listen and to effectively communicate ideas.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to develop multiple projects simultaneously.

Education and License Requirements:


  • Professional Registration as an Architect.
  • B.Arch, M.Arch, or M.Arch variant from an accredited university program in architecture.
  • Membership in the American Institute of Architects is a plus, but not a prerequisite.
  • LEED Accredited Professional status is a plus, but not a prerequisite.
