  • Overview

    Leo A Daly is seeking a senior technical architect responsible for ensuring design intent is documented in all project phases, with appropriate systems, detailing, A/E coordination, graphic clarity and quality, level of completeness, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will advance the overall technical quality of drawings, specifications and contract documents, while providing technical leadership and mentorship of the architectural team.


    • Work with Director of Architecture, project managers and operations director to review and consult on work plans, ensure project teams have appropriate staff, and serve as technical resource to teams
    • Work with discipline leads, architectural teams and project managers on continuous improvement of technical quality of documents, details, and specifications
    • Review, write and mentor architectural team on the production of specifications
    • Perform quality reviews, with a focus on constructability and attention to client’s budget
    • Provide internal technical training and contribute to the professional development of technical staff
    • Assist in developing and implementing a mentoring program for emerging professionals
    • Collaborate with designers and teams to translate design concepts into sound technical solutions
    • Provide technical detailing assistance and advice to teams on a variety of construction materials and building types
    • Develop and implement office-wide technical and production standards, consistent with company standards
    • Review, assist with or perform A/E coordination as required
    • Review code and accessibility analyses, assist with or develop as required
    • Participate in reviews with building officials and AHJ’s for compliance in relation to zoning laws, fire regulations, building codes and other requirements; coach architectural staff on interactions with building officials and AHJ’s
    • Work with project teams and encourage communications and collaboration through all project phases
    • Assist in determining staffing needs and in recruiting staff, particularly senior technical staff
    • Maintain a current technical library, including building codes, accessibility codes, and other relevant standards and requirements
    • Work with Digital Practice/BIM manager and operations director to assess software training needs, plan and implement software training
    • Participate in annual performance reviews for architectural team



    • Passion about mentoring and coaching emerging professionals
    • Ability to bring creative and innovative ideas to technical detailing efforts
    • Thorough working knowledge of current construction materials and methods
    • Detailed understanding of specifications
    • Detailed understanding of various regulatory building codes
    • Ability to persuasively and visually communicate ideas
    • Ability to communicate effectively and openly to all team members
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam Studio applications

    Education and License Requirements

    • Registered Architect
    • Professional expertise demonstrated through 15+ years of progressive experience working with various project types
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from accredited college or university in Architecture
    • Current affiliation and/or membership of AIA or CSI is a plus
    • LEED® Accredited Professional or Green Associate is a plus
    • CDT Certification is a plus
