Leo A Daly, an award winning, International Architecture, Interior Design, Planning and Engineering firm is seeking Project Architects for its Washington, DC office. These individuals will assist with the design and documentation of projects in our Education, Commercial and/or Public & Institutional Sectors. The selected individuals will collaborate with a multi-disciplined team of Architects and Engineers and be responsible for the architectural leadership for one or multiple projects.
Lead projects as they move from Concepts and Schematics, through Design Development and Documentation, producing contract documents following Leo A Daly or project specific BIM standards.
Assist with Construction Administration activities including responding to RFIs, Shop Drawing and Submittal Reviews and performing Punch-out duties. Coordinate and assist affected design and engineering disciplines with addenda, requests for information, change proposal requests and change orders; incorporate agreed upon changes into project documents.
Perform Code compliance evaluations and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance in relation to zoning laws, fire regulations, building codes, accessibility and other ordinances and requirements.
Participate in various pre-design services such as: Programming, Feasibility Studies, Site Selection, Zoning and Cost Analysis.
Assist in the preparation of oral and written presentations on the design and production of projects; assist in the presentation and explanation of proposals, reports and findings.
Review and discuss project contract requirements, goals, objectives, design standards and procedures with Project Manager.
Develop project work plans with the Project Manager and take responsibility for the team’s adherence to the plan.
Report status of design process and cost analysis to Project Manager Organize and attend, internal and external project meetings.
Assist Architectural staff with drawing materials, sketches, product research and selection, technical comparisons and similar technical work
Assist with pursuit and proposal development and project presentations.
Serve as a mentor for less experienced Architects and developing Architectural personnel.
MUST submit work samples along with your resume and cover letter to be considered.
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from accredited college or university in Architecture.
Professional expertise demonstrated through 7-10 years of progressive experience working with various project types.
LEED® Accredited Professional is a plus
Proficiency using Revit is required. Significant Revit experience is mandatory.
Ability and motivation to lead a project team as the BIM Project Coordinator, a plus.
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications Experience using Newforma, Deltek Vision, Rhino, Grasshopper or Sketch-Up. a plus.
Strong knowledge of building codes, zoning, accessibility, and generally knowledgeable in jurisdictional processes.
Ability to persuasively and visually communicate ideas.
