  • Overview

    Leo A Daly, an international design firm with 30 offices worldwide, is looking a Full-Time Intern Architect. The ideal candidate will be someone who is creative and energetic to work on projects across multiple market sectors, including Healthcare, Corporate, and Senior Living. Experience and interest in Federal projects, and specifically projects with the DoD, is a plus.

    Responsibilities

    • Analyze design concept of buildings and spaces in 2D/3D, translate them into plan, elevations, sections and perspective view drawings, and create design presentations using freehand sketches, and 2D/3D modeling and rendering software, including Building Information Modeling (BIM) using Revit, AutoCad, Photoshop, Illustrator, 3D Studio Max, SketchUp, Rhino, Google Earth Pro, and InDesign,
    • Assist in design and concept development requiring expedited concept development and document production,
    • Analyze sketches, photographs, notes, and site survey of existing conditions & other input material to determine best approaches for completion of drawings to solve technical issues of design in relation to site conditions and building structure,
    • Translate clients' functional and spatial requirements into feasible design solutions, integrating projects into site context, responsive to prevailing regulatory, environmental and economic conditions; incorporating sustainable design principles,
    • Organize coordination meetings with clients and consultants; conduct long-distance video planning and presentation meetings; prepare meeting minutes; keep track of outstanding design issues and seek solutions with clients and consultants,
    • Coordinate with vendors to translate designs into material selection for manual presentation packages,
    • Coordinate to obtain approvals from clients and state and local agencies having jurisdiction over projects,
    • Coordinate with civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection (MEP/FP), geotechnical, environmental, civil defenses, lighting, landscape, code, traffic, parking, zoning, signage, acoustic, sustainability, security, food service/kitchen, curtain wall, façade maintenance, vertical transportation, waste management and structural consultants to incorporate building systems into unified design and preparation of project drawings and specifications,
    • Manage project data and transmission and all electronic communications,
    • Assist in the preparation of oral and written presentations on the design and production of projects,
    • Assist in the presentation and explanation of proposals, reports and findings,
    • Attend internal meetings to ensure design specifications are coordinated with drawings. Performs other duties as assigned or instructed.

    Qualifications

     

     

    • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university in Architecture. or Master’sDegree Preferred,
    • Professional expertise demonstrated through a minimum of  1 year of progressive experience working with various project types,
    • Experience with Healthcare projects is a plus, but not required,  
    • Intern Architect will be in process for NCARB certification. LEED® Accredited Professional is a plus,
    • Proficiency using Revit and AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office applications is required,
    • Experience using Photoshop, SketchUp is a plus. Experience using Newforma, Deltek Vision a plus,
    • Ability to persuasively and visually communicate ideas,
    • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with project personnel,
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplined team,
    • Ability to formulate sound and educated decisions based upon available information; strong self-confidence,
    • Excellent planning, time management and organization skills; strong ability to multi-task,
    • Excellent client/customer service orientation and presentation skills,
    • Ability to be highly creative and bring abstract ideas into design,
    • Understanding of various regulatory building codes,
    • Working knowledge of current construction materials and methods.
