  • Overview

    Leo A Daly is seeking the services of a structural engineer to support its growing portfolio of projects. This position is responsible for the preparation of project design documents for building structural systems, including calculations, drawings, and technical specifications. This individual will serve as a member of a multi-discipline integrated design team, and be responsible for developing and coordinating structural design solutions and for meeting project schedules and budgets.

    Responsibilities

    • Prepare design documents for structural systems, including calculations, drawings and structural specifications
    • Develop and review in-progress and final plans and specifications for constructability and risk management
    • Work with other Engineers and Technicians assigned to applicable projects
    • Coordinate technical activities and designs with personnel in other disciplines and departments within the Minneapolis office and other Leo A Daly office locations
    • Perform tasks associated with project construction phase including reviewing submittals, responding to information requests and performing site observations
    • Perform structural assessments of existing structures and prepare reports

    Qualifications

     

    • Ability to communicate effectively with department personnel, office staff and other project team members; must possess strong oral and written communication skills
    • Understanding of structural building concepts and design codes in a variety of structural systems and project types
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to work within project work plans
    • Experience in using Structural design software
    • Familiarity with commonly used structural products
    • Understanding of the construction process including knowledge of practical methodology
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Word, Excel, Outlook
    • Ability to work in a team environment to achieve project goals and as an individual to achieve personal goals
    • Familiarity with REVIT software and coordinating Building Information Modeling efforts
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil from an accredited college or university; Master’s Degree or other advanced education is preferred
    • 5-10 years of experience in Structural design within the A&E environment
    • Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) is required
    • Licensure as a Structural Engineer (SE) is a plus
    • Current affiliation and/or membership with local, state, or national industry organization(s)
