Responsibilities

Market Sector Leaders are responsible for cultivating business opportunities nationwide by developing and maintaining partnerships and managing client relations within the industry.  The Market Sector Leader works directly with the Managing Principal and Business Development team to create and execute initiatives to position the firm to win work.  The Market Sector Leader coordinates with the Marketing team to contribute subject matter expertise to the development of qualifications, proposals, presentations, social media, and traditional collateral pieces.  This position may also serve as a project manager for Federal DoD projects managing contracts, clients, and project teams. 

 

LEADERSHIP:

  • Lead Federal DoD strategic planning efforts to establish market sector goals, objectives, design standards and procedures. Oversee and discuss implementation of the plan with the Federal DoD team
  • Lead market sector meetings and design reviews with Federal DoD team personnel
  • Act as a mentor for the Federal DoD team by taking an active role in the development of department personnel; provide motivation, support continuous education, and encourage professional registration and accreditation
  • Coordinate with Director of Operations and Team Leader to determine the personnel needs for the Federal DoD market sector and individual projects based upon the current and projected workload
  • Convey personnel needs to the Director of Operations and participate in the recruitment, interviewing and selection of candidates for new employment opportunities, promotions, and transfers  
  • Maintain contact within LEO A DALY and LAN studios to stay abreast of the quality and capabilities of other studios and their personnel and collaborate for on-going Federal DoD market strategic development

 

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT:

  • Work with the Managing Principal and Business Development to establish and implement the Federal DoD business development budget and plan; oversee expenditures of the market
  • Work with Business Development to coordinate responsibilities in support of Federal DoD market sector outreach.
  • Contract new work meeting Federal DoD market sector goals established annually.  Individual new business contracted goals may be expected at levels between 30- and 50-times annual salary
  • Ensure the Federal DoD team maintains extensive contacts with representatives of organizations, contractors, and corporate entities within the Federal DoD market
  • Build strong networks with design professionals specialized in the industry and establish circles of influence to identify prospective opportunities and solicit support for business development
  • Maintain pipeline of advanced stage opportunities measuring at least 3 times annual new business contracted goal

 

MARKETING:

  • Collaborate with Managing Principal, Business Development, and Marketing teams to improve or develop new methods for promoting and advancing our reputation and success within the market sector
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to manage and execute the marketing efforts for specific projects within the market sector; support and engage in preparation of proposals, develop programs for promotional campaigns specific to the clients’ needs, interests and budgets
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team and Business Development in the development and updating of promotional materials
  • Perform research and review trade publications and literature to stay abreast of developments within the Federal DoD industry
  • Provide thought leadership and serve as an advocate for LEO A DALY and the Federal DoD Market Sector by attending, exhibiting, and participating in industry organizations and authoring articles for publication

 

PROJECT MANAGEMENT:

  • Position requires supervision of large project teams, planning, directing, and monitoring all aspects of multi-discipline small to large sized Federal DoD projects, and serving as a mentor for less experienced Project Managers and developing Project Architects
  • Responsible for driving results by coordinating the workload of the project team through all project stages to complete documents in accordance with the design standards and procedures of LEO A DALY within project scope, on schedule, and meeting the client’s and Company’s budgets
  • Collaborate with Director of Operations to review and recommend contract changes and gain client approval of improved contracts
  • Responsible for ensuring that all projects go through a detailed QAQC review to continuously improve the overall standards of technical quality and eliminate errors
  • Oversee the completion of the billing process, collection of client billings and other project operational and financial matters; hold clients accountable for meeting the terms of their contracts
  • Review project financial statistics, and make necessary adjustments to ensure projected financial performance is achieved within expectations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university in Architecture or Engineering; Master’s Degree or other advanced education is a plus
  • Professional expertise demonstrated through 10+ years of experience in design and management of projects within the Federal DoD industry preferred; additional 5+ years of progressive experience in leadership and/or business development
  • Professional Engineer/Architect registration is a plus
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit with desire to grow the Federal DoD market sector and position LEO A DALY as one of the premier firms knowledgeable and equipped to design and execute Federal DoD projects
  • Understanding of the Federal DoD market sector and corresponding client needs/expectations; ability to identify trends, suggest solutions, and help develop clients' ideas into buildable solutions
  • Demonstrated skills in business development and negotiation of critical issues; exceptional client management, customer service orientation, writing and presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of fee proposals, negotiations, a variety of delivery and contracting processes, and contract/subcontract administration
  • Proven ability to drive results thru successful project planning, coordination, scheduling, and budgeting
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, problem solving, and decision making skills
  • Excellent time management and organization skills with the ability to become involved in and remain current on issues relating to a number of concurrent opportunities/projects in various stages
  • Active leader and member of varied professional and community organizations is a plus
