As a Senior Mechanical Designer, you will perform mechanical design tasks thru preparation of contract documents.  These documents will be in support of architectural and engineering projects related to mechanical design for HVAC, piping system, and controls work.

Responsibilities

Senior Mechanical Designers work as part of a multi-discipline team performing mechanical design and documentation during all phases of multiple simultaneous projects.  Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature with Mechanical Engineers.  Mechanical Engineers will provide supervisory approval on proposed project plans.  Assignments will include producing deliverable drawing sets for site plans, HVAC plans, piping plans, controls diagrams, details, schematics, and schedules.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Sets up and manages complex Revit MEP models
  • Serves as a technical expert within the team regarding model management or components of engineering system design
  • Designs and specifies project-appropriate mechanical requirements
  • Performs Revit modeling and detailing
  • Investigates, evaluates, and recommends design solutions, prioritizes work, receives guidance on complex issues.
  • Performs cross-discipline discussions and coordination of work for system clash avoidance.
  • Prepares drawing and specification documents in accordance with a high degree of quality, yet with regard to project schedule and budget constraints
  • Attends internal and client meetings and communicates with clients, consultants, contractors, and others during various stages of project development.
  • Conducts site investigations and observations.
  • Performs contract administration by developing addendums, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, responding to RFI’s, solving construction issues, leading the development and coordination of record drawings, and performing site visits to assess general conformance with the design concept.
  • Works to help maintain and develop mechanical drawing, detailing, templates, families, and workflow standards.
  • Mentors and encourages the development of junior designers and engineers
  • Travel for project-related activities may be required.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years experienc including large project experience
  • Associates Degree from Technical College or 4-year nonengineering degree
  • Proficiency with Revit MEP required and production experience preparing deliverable drawing sets with minimal supervision
  • Experience contributing to system sizing (utilizing software), equipment selection, calculations, and corresponding model updates
  • Experience preparing redline design layouts
  • Demonstrated passion for technology and its integration with the AEC industry
