Overview

As a Senior Architect you will lead and perform programming and conceptual design tasks thru preparation of contract documents.  Senior Architects serve as a technical expert within the architectural team and are responsible to lead the development of contract documents and orchestrate multidisciplinary team coordination.

Responsibilities

Senior Architects work as part of a multi-discipline team managing the comprehensive development of architectural design during all phases of multiple simultaneous projects.  Senior Architects lead production teams of architectural professionals and are responsible for the quality of the technical services provided.  Assignments will include programming, space planning, design, editing specifications, producing deliverable drawing sets for floor plans, roof plans, building and wall sections, details and schedules.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serves as a technical expert within the architectural team to plan the design process and solve problems of large scope and complexity
  • Assists Project Managers with fee, scope, and schedule development for architectural portions of work
  • Establishes, designs, and specifies project-appropriate architectural requirements
  • Plans and develops projects of various sizes without supervision
  • Independently investigates, evaluates, and recommends design solutions, and prioritizes work
  • Plans, organizes, and directs the work of Architects, Designers, and other junior professionals
  • Leads code analysis and coordinates agency, fire marshal, and jurisdictional compliance reviews.
  • Performs Revit modeling and detailing
  • Initiates and facilitates cross-discipline discussions and coordination with multidisciplinary teammates
  • Conducts site investigations and observations
  • Attends client meetings and communicates with clients, consultants, contractors, and others during various stages of project development
  • Prepares narratives, reports, drawing and specification documents in accordance with a high degree of quality, yet with regard to project schedule and budget constraints
  • Reviews architectural documents for quality and compliance with code and program requirements, and conflicts with other disciplines.
  • Participates in Construction Administration by reviewing shop drawings and submittals, responding to RFI’s, solving construction issues, and performing site visits to assess general conformance with the design concept
  • Maintains knowledge of current industry trends on space, function, materials, etc.
  • Mentors and encourages the development of junior professionals. Develops training and educational opportunities for the architecture team.
  • Assesses and recommends improvements relative to architectural software, design procedures, standard details, and master specifications
  • Performs marketing and business development activities including building relationships with key clients and strategic partners, proposal writing, fee estimates, and client interviews
  • Travel for marketing and project-related activities will be required

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture from an accredited college or university
  • Architecture registration required
  • 10+ years’ experience in the planning, design, and documentation of architecture; significant experience with healthcare projects; expertise in medical planning preferred
  • Experience leading large client user groups through the project design process.
  • Proficiency with computer software including Revit Architecture
  • Ability to direct and lead a production team of architectural teammates to develop and orchestrate full team coordination of contract documents
  • Demonstrated practical knowledge of codes and related industry standards
  • Excellent time management and organization skills with the ability to become involved in and remain current on issues relating to a number of concurrent projects in various stages
  • Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately
  • Self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation skills
  • Positive attitude and commitment to being an active participant working as part of a multi-discipline team
  • Active leader and member of varied professional organizations is a plus
